

Emma Lou Duncan, 73, a native of Williamson County, went to be her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 15, 2014. Emma's family will gather for a time of visitation and sharing on Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH 35, Georgetown, TX 78628. A service of celebration and thanksgiving will be held on Friday, April 18, 2014 at 2:00PM at Andice Baptist Church, 6570 FM 970, Andice, TX 76527 with Rev. Daniel Crowther and Richard Grant officiating. Interment will follow at Maxdale Cemetery. Honoring Emma's servings as pallbearers will be Clay Ryden, Tod Ryden, Mike Ryden, Chris Grant, Jonathan Grant, and Derek Haney. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Quackenbush, Gene Duncan, Lester Duncan, David Duncan, Barry Duncan, and Shane Riley. Emma was born July 13, 1940 in Georgetown to the late Milton and Merle Ryden. She graduated from Florence High School. It was shortly after high school that Emma married the love of her life, L.C. Duncan on July 7, 1958 She went on to attended Jackie Nell Business School in Austin. She spent a short time working as a nurse's aide at River Haven Nursing Home. In 1979, Emma went to work as a teacher's aide for The Florence ISD at the elementary and middle schools. Her children would tell you it helped to keep them on the straight and narrow. Emma loved her school kids and cherished the work for over 25 years. Emma and L.C. joined Andice Baptist Church, where they served the church with their many spiritual gifts. Emma taught two "Ruth Classes" both in Florence and Andice. L.C. and Emma enjoyed taking the family camping at Lake Belton; the memories created will be with their children forever. Emma shared her talent with her family and friends with her knitting and crocheting of Afghans, pot holders, and baby blankets. She will be truly missed. Emma is preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Martha Ryden; and her husband of over 51 years, L.C. Duncan; sister, Lee Grant; her brother, Carl Ryden; her grandson, Ernest Ray Duncan; her in-laws, Vasco and Cleo Duncan; daughter-in-law, Donna Hamilton Duncan; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Ryden, Penny Duncan, and Carleen Duncan; brothers-in-law, Billy Ray Duncan, Darrell Duncan, Ervin Duncan, and Carl Quackenbush. Emma leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving children, Randy Duncan and his wife Valerie, Traci Duncan and her fiance Shane Riley; her sister, Gayle Haney and her husband Bruce; her grandchildren, Jessica McKee and Joshua Duncan and Rob Taylor and Andrew Taylor; her great grandchildren, Donna McKee and Hailey Duncan; along with numerous other loving family members and friends. Emma's family request that memorial donations be sent in her memory to the Andice Baptist Church and the Andice Baptist Youth Group, 6470 FM970, Andice, Texas 76527.
