

Frances Hilda Young entered into eternal rest and peace with Christ her Lord and Savior on March 24, 2011 at age 90. A lifelong resident of San Antonio, Texas, she died in Round Rock, Texas after a long illness. Frances was born February 10, 1921 in De Pue, Illinois to parents Lucas and Leonor Garza Sr. She is preceded in death by husband Tom Young, Sr., parents, sister Nora Ellis, brother Ramon Garza, niece Lisa Kay Garza Foley and nephew Jeff Benavides.
She is survived by sons, Jim (Mary) Young and Tom (Ludi) Young, Jr.; her brother, Lucas (Frances) Garza, Jr. of Orlando, Florida; four grandchildren, Tommy Dean (Christine) Young, Kelly (Clint) Pattie, Nicole (Nathan) Carmines, Sandra Stewart and fiancée Michael DeHaven; great-grandchildren, Devin Stewart, Lauren Stewart, Lacey Pattie, Ashley Pattie, Amelia Carmines, Andrew Cabrera, Phillip Cabrera and Erica Cabrera; sister-in-law, Mary Louise Garza; and many nieces and nephews.
Frances was a longtime member of both Trinidad Lutheran Church and Concordia Lutheran Church in San Antonio, Texas. She served as past president of Trinidad Lutheran Church’s Lutheran Womens Missionary League as well as a Sunday school teacher. Her joy was to call on fellow members that were ill or home bound. She was active in her husband’s grocery store business. Frances was employed at Kelly Field towards the end of WWII, San Antonio Savings Association and USAA.
Frances lived and treasured her family as she was caretaker of her husband and her parents in the years prior to their respective deaths. She was very involved in the formative years of her grandchildren along with her husband. She gave tirelessly of herself to the well being of the family core.
Frances loved the calm of the evening, the rising of the full moon, Texas roadside bluebonnets, windmills, song birds, poetry, children of the world and stories of personal triumphs and successes.
A funeral service will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church (Loop 1604 at Huebner) in San Antonio, Texas on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at10:00 A.M. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 P.M. at San Fernando #2 Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation to be made to a charity of choice.
