Frank Piotrowski, a first-generation American and beloved son of Polish immigrants Aleksander and Stella Piotrowski, passed away peacefully at his home in Georgetown, Texas, on December 6, 2025. Born on November 21, 1940, Frank lived a life defined by dedication, innovation, and service to his family, community, and country.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Irene (Rene) Piotrowski, whom he married on August 3, 1968, his six children, twelve grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. His love for family was unwavering, and his legacy will live on through them.
Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Signal Corps from 1963 to 1967, instilling a sense of duty and patriotism that his two sons carried forward in their own honorable military service. His brothers Lou, Ted, Steve, and Joe also served, with Lou earning a Silver Star for his valor.
In his adventurous early years, Frank traveled across Europe in a Volkswagen bug with only a pup tent for shelter. The journeys sparked endless stories and memories that he loved to retell—stories filled with humor, scrappiness, and his signature resourcefulness. These “Tata stories,” told initially at bedtime to all the kids, have been passed down several generations and are part of Frank’s legacy.
An exceptional engineer, Frank designed steel mill cranes, chemical and steel processing lines, and evaluated green energy initiatives for Fort Hood in Texas during his final years before retirement. His ingenuity extended beyond traditional engineering—he pioneered solutions such as air-cushioned transport platforms for multi-ton steel coils and introduced early computer analysis of camera observations for manufacturing quality control. Despite his drive to apply cutting-edge technologies, Frank was also known for his practical penchant for the use of duct tape.
Frank’s resilience was remarkable. He was heart transplant recipient #301 at Seton’s Heart Specialty Care and Transplant Center, receiving his new heart on May 8, 2009. That heart remained strong through his passing, even as he faced a hemorrhagic stroke in 2016 and seven surgeries for bladder cancer starting in 2020. Throughout these challenges, Frank maintained a positive, can-do attitude and never gave up.
With a passion for teaching and mentoring, Frank dedicated over 30 years as a leader in the Boy Scouts of America, shaping countless young lives through his guidance and example. He also volunteered with St. Vincent De Paul and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Georgetown, Texas.
Beyond his professional and community achievements, Frank found immense joy in gardening, especially cultivating roses and his crepe myrtles. His yard was a vibrant testament to his care and patience, with blooms that reflected his love for beauty and life. Tending to his garden and yard was not just a hobby but a source of peace and pride, and he delighted in sharing its beauty with family and friends.
Frank will be remembered for his brilliance, generosity, and unwavering commitment to family, faith, and community. His legacy lives on in the innovations he created and the lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the Ascension Seton Foundation in honor of Frank Piotrowski.
