

He was born in New Orlean, LA but lived many different places during his life. After completing high school in Palatine, Illinois, he joined the US Airforce. He often told stories about being stationed in Alaska. After leaving the Airforce he went to work for defense contractors and then Xerox and Honeywell. The family lived coast to coast, Illinois, Georgia, Maine, California, New York, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma and finally Texas. After retiring he became a full-time volunteer at The Caring Place.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Irma Williamson Ury, his parents George A. Ury Sr. & Josephine Bordonaro and his brother Richard J Ury. He is survived by his daughters Sandra and Tina along with their spouses Nathan and Jim and grandchildren Meghan, Justin, Geoffrey, Madolyn, Ryan and Evan.
George loved woodworking. He was quite talented and never passed up an opportunity to learn something new or buy a new tool. He offered his time and talents freely, and was always ready to build whatever you asked for.
