Hazel was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Bernard and Mary Myers, her mother, Adeline McCory, her husband, Wallace C. Zahniser, as well as her brother, Bernard (Bud) Myers, and nephew Cory Myers. Hazel is survived by her loving daughter, Suzanne Zwigart, her grandchildren, Stephanie Price (Robert), Tony Zwigart, Jr. (Pooh), Stacia Aylor (Chris), her great-grandchildren, Sean, Sarah (Alberto), Wyatt, Brodie, Virgil, and Rihanna, her niece, Rae Ann Hoelzer, and nephews, Kirk Myers and Bernie Myers, and their families. Her faith in Jesus sustained her through life’s trials and also provided her with many great blessings.
Hazel was born in Butler, Pennsylvania on April 8, 1928. She resided in the Butler, Mars and Allison Park communities as well as the Florida Keys with her daughter, Suzanne. Many summers were spent with her grandchildren swimming and picking vegetables from her amazing garden. After her husband, Wallace (Pap Pap to his grandkids) passed away unexpectedly in 1983, Hazel moved to Texas to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. This move allowed for many more memories to be created and cherished by her family.
Besides her family, her two greatest loves were flowers and baseball! She loved any and all flowers and had the greenest thumb! Gram could tell you anything and everything about baseball and was an avid Express fan! Until recently, she never missed an opening day for the Round Rock Express.
Hazel dedicated her life to loving her family and was, in turn, loved by all who knew her. A celebration of her life will be planned for later this year. Memorial donations can be made to Magnolia Hospice, 1421 Wells Branch Pkwy, Ste 105, Pflugerville, TX 78660. We are so appreciative of the compassionate care they provided.
