Hipolito "Polo" Garza, age 67, of Georgetown, Texas passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025, fighting the good fight with every ounce of strength until the very end. Born on September 8, 1957 in Hidalgo, Texas and a long-time resident of Weslaco, Texas, Polo was the son of Juan Garza and Fela Ramirez Garza.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Brittney Garza; sisters, Esmeralda Moreno and husband Roger, Oralia Lopez and husband Lionel, Thelma Garza and Manuel Perez, and Mary Solis and husband Raul; brothers, Juan Javier Garza and wife Juana, Margarito Garza, and Gerardo Garza and wife Norma; and dozens of loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews who all carry a piece of his strength with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan Garza and Felicitas (Fela) Ramirez Garza.
Polo was a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. To know him was to witness resilience in motion - a man who met life's hardships with grit, fire, and that signature stubbornness that we all came to love and admire. He lived boldly and unapologetically, always on his own terms, and never letting life knock him down.
He began his academic journey at Texas A&M University in Kingsville, where he pursued a Bachelor of Business Administration for many years. Though he did not complete his degree there, his commitment to learning led him to resume his studies at St. Edward's University in Austin. He proudly earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in 2011 and continued on to receive a Master of Arts in College Student Development in 2014.
Though life didn't always go easy on Polo, he never let it dim his light. He faced every challenge with a fierce determination and a stubborn will that refused to break. He taught us what it means to be tough, to be loyal, and to never back down.
To those who loved him, he was more than family - he was a protector, a fighter, a rock. His legacy lives on in every story we tell, every laugh we share, and every moment we remember him standing tall, no matter what life threw his way.
I faced it all, and I stood tall, and did it my way - Frank Sinatra
