Irene Florence Riches

Irene Riches age 88, of Georgetown, died on Sunday January 20, 2008 in a local nursing home. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 25, 2008 at 5:00pm at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown with Chaplain Joe Cariker officiating. Irene was born July 15, 1919, the second of seven children to Ernest and Nell (Glover) Coupland in London, England. She attended schools in England, then in 1941 during WWII she married Frederick Stephen Riches, they were married 49 years before he preceded her in death in 1990. Throughout the war, Irene was a Seamstress and made uniforms for the British Troops. During this time she also gave birth to her only child. Irene also worked as an accounts clerk in a greeting card store before retiring. She moved to the United States in 1993 to be close to family. She enjoyed her retirement years out by Lake Limestone passing her time in her passions of gardening, reading, knitting, nature and bird watching. She was tirelessly devoted to her family. Irene is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Kiser of Georgetown; her brothers Sidney Coupland and Ray Coupland of England; sisters Joyce Doyle, Gladys Yeardley, Vera Cameron all of England; grandchildren Matthew Kiser and wife Michelle of Richardson, Wendy Smith and husband Chris of Leander, Andrew Kiser of Georgetown, Suzanne Kiser of Round Rock; great grandchildren Patrick, Jared, Morgan and Zachary Kiser, and Hannah and Davis Smith
