James "Darryl" Goins

April 22, 1960 – September 26, 2024

James Darryl Goins, 64, of Wharton, TX, born on April 22, 1960, to Milton and Myrtle Goins in Houston, TX, went home to Jesus in the early hours of September 26, 2024. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Kathy, and his father, Milton.

Darryl was a devoted family man who cherished his loved ones above all. He had an unwavering faith in God and a deep love for his country. His warm spirit and kind heart touched everyone around him. Those fortunate enough to know him will remember him as a steadfast friend and an exceptional listener, always ready to offer wise counsel, even on days when he faced his own challenges. He was the rock that many relied on to weather life's storms, embodying strength and compassion in every aspect of his life. Darryl had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh, bringing joy and light to those around him.

Darryl stood firm in his beliefs and values, never wavering in his commitment to family, faith, and friendship. He leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and resilience that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Kathy Goins, and his father, Milton Goins. He is survived by his mother, Myrtle Goins; children Ron Hunter and Cherice Surrett; grandchildren Kristen Surrett, Rebecca Brandsma, and Caleb Hunter; great-grandchildren Isabella Surrett and Amelia Dozier; as well as numerous other family members and dear friends who will carry his memory in their hearts forever. His spirit, laughter, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

In honor of Darryl's life, service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at The Gabriels Funeral Home, 393 N Interstate Hwy 35, Georgetown, TX 78628, at 1 p.m. All who knew him are welcome to celebrate his life and share in the love he so generously gave.
