John Marcel Ely

John Marcel Ely, born on July 9, 1948, in Litchfield, Illinois, and passed away on July 27, 2025, in Temple, Texas. He is now reunited with his beloved parents, John Howard Ely and Colette Jean Noirot, as well as his sister Michele McGaffic. He is survived by his son, David Ely and daughter-in-law Lisa, along with his sister, Francine Cannon and her husband, Rob.

John M. Ely graduated from Chaminade College Preparatory in 1966 and shortly after enlisted in the Air Force from 1968 -1972, where he worked as an Aircraft refuel specialist. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sgt.

Early in his career, John worked for the United States Postal Service, where he was a mail carrier. He retired after 17 years and held miscellaneous jobs after that. In his earlier life, John enjoyed camping and stamp collecting. His biggest passion and enjoyment was building and operating remote control model boats. John lived most of his life between Texas and Missouri and spent the last four and a half years enjoying getting to know people in the Morada Temple Senior Living Facility. John will be laid to rest in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Gillespie, Illinois.
