Katherine Bishop passed away at her home in Round Rock, Texas. Katherine was born in San Antonio and grew up in Beeville, Texas. A steadfast supporter of her husband’s military career and devoted mother, Katherine lived a life defined by service, resilience, and love. Over the years she made homes in eight different states and Japan before returning to Texas, where she resided for the last twenty years.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, James H. Bishop; her sons, Jerry Lau and James Taylor; her daughters in law, Nhi and Brittany Bishop; her six siblings, Jim Zertuche, Angeline Zertuche, Patricia Constante, Bernardo Zertuche, Rito Zertuche and Sam Zertuche; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents Bernardo Carrillo Zertuche and Julia Muro Zertuche.
Katherine graduated from Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, Texas where she proudly served as a Dazzler on the school cheerleading squad. She later graduated from Stephenson Beauty School in Corpus Christi. During her years in Beaufort, South Carolina she worked as a trained ophthalmic surgeon’s assistant. A lifelong servant at heart, Katherine volunteered with the Red Cross at numerous military installations and dedicated her time to coaching several of her sons’ Little League teams.
Katherine was a fearlessly devoted wife and mother whose passions included travel and adventure. Above all, she loved meeting new people and helping those in need. She truly never met a stranger. She loved our country deeply and held an enduring admiration for the United States Armed Forces, with a special place in her heart for the United States Marine Corps.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, located at 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, TX 78628, United States. The service is scheduled for January 17, 2026, starting at 1:00 pm.
