

Elizabeth LaRue Oney Crosby was born at her family home on January 12th, 1940, in Pearl, Coryell County, Texas to her parents Beatrice Cox and Creed Fulton Oney. She passed away peacefully August 26th, 2021, at the Hospice Austin Christopher House, having battled Parkinson’s disease for fifteen years at the age of 81.
She went to Nixon-Clay business school in Austin, after graduation from Evant High School in 1958. She met the love of her life, Eddie, in Austin and they married on October 24th, 1959. After about a year, they moved to Longview. They returned to Austin in 1964, where they stayed until moving to Liberty Hill in 2006 and finally Round Rock in 2012. During her career, LaRue worked as a transcriptionist for attorneys and physicians. She was a secretary for the University Interscholastic League for several years. LaRue retired with 19 years of service from the Austin Independent School District Special Education Department in 2002.
During her lifetime, she was a faithful member of several Churches of Christ: Pearl, Mobberly Avenue Longview, Highland Village, Cameron Road, Liberty Hill, and Round Rock. LaRue enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, crocheting, watching gymnastics and figure skating, and being with her grandkids. She and Ed also enjoyed many vacations from Alaska to Florida, Maine to Hawaii, and numerous points in between.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Edgar Crosby of Round Rock; son Kent Crosby of Liberty Hill; son Burke Crosby and his wife Tilly of Round Rock; three grandchildren Brooke, Katy, and Ryan Crosby of Round Rock; sister Meredith Key of Plano; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews of the Oney family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bea and Creed Oney; her brothers, Jeryl Oney, Harold Oney and his wife Colleen, and Royce Oney and his wife Orlean; her sister, Edwina and her husband RL Haynes; and sister-in-law, Delores Crosby Stewart and her husband Eddie Mac Stewart.
Visitation will be at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, August 30th from 5:00 to 7:00pm and a family burial following at the Pearl Cemetery, 9:30am, August 31st. The family would like to thank the numerous caregivers over the years and the staff of Christopher House during her final days for providing kind, loving care to LaRue and the family.
