

Laura married Raymond Heckmann on September 9, 1945, at Zion Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas. They lived in Brenham, Texas for a short while and then moved to Austin, Texas where they resided until 1979 when they moved to Georgetown, Texas.
Laura retired from Steck Company/Hart Graphics after more than 40 years of service. After retirement, she carried her strong work ethics into her volunteer work as one of the original quilters at Christ Lutheran Church, Manager of Trinity Lutheran Home Gift Shop and Thrift Shop, The Caring Place, and St. David’s Georgetown Hospital. Her late husband, Raymond, worked the UT football games for 52 years and she joined him during the last 8 years of his service.
She is survived by daughter, Sharon (Larry) Hehman; son, Randy (Marilyn) Heckmann; grandchildren, Mike Hehman, Steven (Dara) Hehman, Jennifer (Anthony) Bacak, and Jeremy (Leslie) Heckmann; great-grandchildren, Ty and Chance Hehman, Heath Hehman and baby to be born in July, Noah, Gideon and Ellie Bacak and Avery Heckmann; sister, Lilly Drews; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Predeceasing Laura are her husband, parents, brother Herbert Jaster, sisters Mettie Ganske and Laverne Lewis and their spouses, and sister-in-law Erna Gaskamp and spouse.
Services for Laura will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 510 Luther Drive, Georgetown, Texas, on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at 11:00 AM with burial following at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 23, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home on Williams Drive in Georgetown.
