

Lois was born August 18, 1919 in Ft. Stockton, Texas and was preceded in death by her devoted husband Joe D. Bacon, her parents Larkin and Sallie Whitehead and two brothers Howard and Larry Whitehead.
While attending Big Spring High School in 1935, Lois worked as a part time dental assistant. After graduation she worked as a secretary. In 1939 she married W.J. Riley and settled in Victoria, Texas where their daughter Sue was born in 1941. Later two sons joined the family and they moved to Corpus Christi, Texas. While living in Corpus, Lois attended Del Mar College and University of Corpus Christi but through the years Lois distinguished herself as a lifetime learner because she continuously studied to improve herself. After the children were educated, she obtained a Real Estate license and purchased rental property in Austin. She worked for a fur company for ten years marketing Russian furs.
In 1977 Lois and Joe Bacon married and settled in Austin, Texas where they embraced life and their community. They became devoted and faithful members of Hyde Park Baptist Church and later Austin Baptist Church. Lois and Joe were both charter members of Austin Baptist Church with Joe serving as a deacon until his death February 4, 2011.
Lois was known among her family and friends as a woman of faith serving as Sunday school teacher and active in WMU. She also volunteered at Spohn Hospital for over 20 years. She continued her avid interest in music, reading and gourmet cooking. She touched lives through her God-given talents and she endeared herself to many special friends.
Survivors include sons, John Douglas Riley of Round Rock, Texas and Bill Riley of Austin, Texas; daughter, Sue Opheim of Round Rock, Texas; granddaughters, Elizabeth Owens and husband Todd and Suellen Lauvstad; and great-granddaughters, Kate, Allie and Morgan Owens and Darby and Blair Lauvstad.

A memorial service will be Friday, December 27, 2013 at 1:30 P.M. in the chapel of Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. Inurnment will be private.
