

Lois first contracted cancer at the early age of 24. She had 4 recurrences and with all the many cancer treatments that her body had to endure, many other illnesses later occurred. Lois always knew that each challenge was part of God’s plan for her life journey. She was always thankful of the many years and graces that our Lord bestowed on her. As a cancer survivor she was able to share her many experiences and bring comfort to other survivors during difficult times.
Lois was born on February 16th 1942 in Round Rock, Texas. She moved to Georgetown when she married her husband, Daniel Vasquez. She was involved in many activities at St. Helen Catholic Church and in the Georgetown community. Lois worked for the Georgetown Independent School District for 35 years and retired in 2010. For many years Lois and her husband owned a picture framing shop in downtown Georgetown, called Custom Frames by Daniel.
Lois served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Carmelite Study Group and involved in the Church Library. She was also a church board member and involved in St. Vincent DePaul. In the Georgetown community Lois served in the Caring Place, Williamson and Burnet County Opportunity Inc. Board, United Way, Georgetown Public Library Board, Stonehaven Center Board, Handcrafts Unlimited Board, Williamson County Art Guild Board, PTA Officer, Girl Scout Leader, and was a Williamson County Hospice volunteer. She also did missionary work in Mexico.
She is preceded in death by her parents Lee and Amelia Pena of Round Rock, Texas and her sister Ellen Lopez of Georgetown, Texas. Lois is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Daniel Vasquez of Georgetown; her children, Danny Vasquez Jr. of Georgetown, Texas and Vivian Vasquez Rodriguez of Dallas, Texas; her sister Nora Gonzales and husband Fred of Temple, Texas and brothers Lee Pena Jr. and wife Luz and Robert Pena and wife Sandy of Round Rock, Texas and many numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 17, 2015 at the Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home beginning at 6:00pm followed by a Rosary at 7:00pm. A Mass of Christian burial celebrating her life will be held Monday, May 18, 2015 at 10:00am at St. Helen Catholic Church in Georgetown with celebrant Father Tim Nolt. Graveside services will be held at the Georgetown Memorial Cemetery following the church services.
The family would like to thank all who lifted Lois in prayers during her illness. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the St. Helen Church Building Fund or the Caring Place of Georgetown Texas.
