Lucia “Lucy” Ramos Lozano went to be with her Lord and Savior on the 27th of November, 2010. Lucy was born on July 6th, 1928 in Georgetown, Texas. She lived a life full of purpose and dedication, with a great sense of nobility to her family, friends and community. Lucy chose many different roles throughout her life: she was an amazing cook, a dedicated volunteer to St. Helen’s Catholic Church, and she was also the Housekeeping Supervisor at Georgetown Hospital and worked there for over forty years. However, there was a role that she held with the utmost loyalty and respect…she would never put anything in life above being a loving wife and caring mother to her family. There is an old saying that goes “behind every great man, there is a great woman.” This was certainly the case in the marriage of Lucy and her husband, Jesse Lozano. From the moment they met, Jesse would refer to Lucy as the “prettiest girl in Georgetown” and wouldn’t rest until she gave him a chance. Lucy finally did, and they built a beautiful life together in Georgetown, Texas that lasted many years. Being the wife of a firefighter with three children was not an easy task and came with many sleepless nights, but Lucy always seemed to handle it with pride, patience and love. Lucy and Jesse both took pride in serving their community, and felt that hard work and dedication was the key to having any kind of success in life. Lucy is preceded in death by her loving husband and best-friend of 58 years, Jesse B. Lozano. She is survived by her three children Yolanda Lozano-Slaughter and husband Richard of San Antonio, Stephen and wife Alice of England, and Anthony of Georgetown; her five grandchildren Rochelle Slaughter and Jordan Slaughter of San Antonio, Jesse L. Lozano and Charlotte Lozano of England, and Charlie Lozano of Georgetown; her two brothers Norberto Ramos and wife Estelle of Utah, and Demetrio Ramos and wife Beatrice of Rhode Island. She is also preceded in death by her parents Francisco and Lola Ramos, and brothers Emilio and Johnny Ramos. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 pm in The Gabriels Funeral Chapel & Crematory of Georgetown. There will be a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 2, 2010 in St. Helen’s Catholic Church of Georgetown. Interment will follow in Georgetown Memorial Park. Honoring her memory as pallbearers will be: Ray Lozano, Adolph Robles, John Montgomery, Jordan Slaughter, Rodney Montgomery, and Henry Bracamontez.
