On December 18, 1924 Lula Belle McKee was born to Willis and Ollie McKee in Hartshorn, Missouri. She passed from this life on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at age 86 and lived a rich, full life. Lou married Walker Evans in 1942. To that union was born James “Jim” and Barbara Evans. The marriage ended in divorce. Later Lou married Marcel Williams, a widower who also had 2 children, Donna and Danny Williams. Lou and Marcel had one son together, Marvin “Bud” Williams. They resided in Illinois.
Lou worked for Kroger as a grocery store checker for many years. The family migrated to Fort Worth, Texas. After all the children were grown and out of the house, Lou moved to Harker Heights, Texas. She decided to provide Day Care in her home and was known as “Miss Lou” to the children and parents alike. She gave child care to many children and they all loved her almost as much as she loved them.
Two of Lou’s talents were crocheting and embroidering. Each one of her kids and grandkids owned a tablecloth, doilies, or pillow cases that she made for them to “remember her by”. She also loved to watch “her stories” on television.
At about the age of 70, Lou became a Christian, although she attended the services of the church of Christ regularly for many years prior to her becoming a Christian. She had the good pleasure of being baptized into Christ by her youngest son, “Bud”, making it a great day for her as well as her family and friends. She remained a member of the Southside church of Christ in Killeen until she moved to Jal, New Mexico. She worshipped with the Jal church of Christ while she lived there. After a few years she moved back to Missouri. Eventually she lived in a nursing home in Branson, Missouri as her health continued to decline. Earlier this year she moved to the nursing home in Nevada, Missouri so she could be nearer her son, Jim.
Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Marcel Williams; her parents, Willis and Ollie McKee; her brothers, Russell, Arthur, and Pete McKee; her sister, Violet Smith; and her son, Marvin “Bud” Williams. She is survived by her sisters, Beulah Matzig of Houston, Texas, Eula Morgan of Houston, Missouri., Pearl Labbee of Marshfield, Missouri; son, James Evans and wife Sylvia of Walker, Missouri; daughter, Barbara Evans and husband Bill of Oregon; daughter-in-law, Beverly Williams of Killeen, Texas; stepchildren, Donna Williams of St. Louis, Missouri and Danny Williams of Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, relatives and friends. She will be missed by many.
The family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen, Texas with a funeral service to follow the visitation at 12:00 P.M. Interment will follow at Killeen Memorial Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
