Luz Martinez

Luz Martinez, 87, passed away September 13, 2009 in Georgetown, Texas. She was born January 8, 1922 in Austin, Texas to Maria & Bernabe Ortega. Luz was a member of The Guadalupanas, Cursillo Movement, and St. Helen’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed bingo, gardening, and walks in San Gabriel Park with her husband, and was known for her wonderful cooking. She is preceded in death by her husband; Gregario Martinez, daughter, Lucy Guajardo, grandson, Gabriel Guajardo and an infant daughter. She is survived by her children; Paul Martinez, Paul Guajardo(Son in law), Joe Martinez and his wife, Becky, Carolyn Garcia and her husband, Raymond, Susie Bracamontez and her husband, Gene, Celia Villareal and her husband, Jerry, and Linda Conde and her husband, Isidro; 21 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren. Honoring her memory as pallbearers will be: Paul Gary Martinez, Otay Martinez, Rudy Garcia,Isaac Conde, Tony Guajardo, and Jeremy Gonzales. Honorary Pallbearer will be Dylan Tomasulo. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown on Wednesday September 16, 2009, there will be a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00p.m. on September 17, 2009 at St. Helens Catholic Church with interment to follow at Georgetown Memorial Park.
