He leaves behind his wife of 52 years Maria Vu, their five children Fr. John Luong, O.M.V. of Boston, MA, Dr. Justin Luong of Temple, TX, Elizabeth Salinas (Michael) of Georgetown, TX, Jason Luong of Round Rock, TX and Anna Luong of Round Rock, TX; two granddaughters, Adriana and Ava Salinas of Georgetown, TX, sisters Bao and Tina (Mike) and many nieces and nephews. His parents, brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
He will be most remembered as a courageous warrior and survivor, planning and executing an escape out of Vietnam while serving for the US military to bring his family and wife’s siblings to freedom. Marty was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was an avid reader, writer and poet. Marty enjoyed traveling and theatre performances.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to all the doctors, nurses, and medical staff at Texas Oncology and St. David’s Medical Center of Round Rock who provided great care to Marty until the very end.
A wake service will be held at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, TX at 6 PM on Thursday, December 8, 2022. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by his son, Fr. John Luong, O.M.V. at 10:00 am Friday, December 9, 2022 at St. William Church in Round Rock, TX. Burial is at Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery immediately following the Funeral Mass.
