Mary Frances Fly – AKA, Frances, Mom, Mama Fly or MiMi; no matter the name, was a child of God. She was born in Nashville, Tennessee on May 17, 1927. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kelly Marshall Clements, Sr. and Marguerite Louise Williams Clements, two older brothers, Kelly Marshall, Jr and Wallace Lamoine and her devoted husband of 69 years, Roy Fly, Jr.
Frances and Roy were high school sweethearts at East Nashville High School and they were married on January 31, 1946 after his return from military service during WWII. In June of 1948 they were blessed with their first daughter, Sandra Louise. Roy again served his country in the Korean Conflict as a Sergeant in the Marine Corp. Once home, they were blessed a second time when Pamela Susan was born in December of 1951. After marriage they lived in many places; Nashville, Tennessee; Camp Hood, Texas; Detroit, Michigan; Shreveport, Louisiana; Houston (where the girls grew up and attended school); Amarillo; Benbrook; Conroe and settling in Sun City, Georgetown, Texas. After Roy’s death, Frances called The Wesleyan Independent Living her home. She was well known and loved by an abundance of friends. Throughout her life Frances was very active where ever life took them. She was a dedicated wife and mother, even working for 10 years at Oak Forest Bank in Houston, just to provide the extra income to spend on her beloved daughters so they could always dress in the latest styles and look their very best. Frances was always active in church, but was there for PTA, scouting, dance lessons- where ever she was needed. After both girls were married she stayed active in many groups and clubs-her favorite being Red Hat (of which she was Queen) and was most dedicated to the sisterhood of the PEO.
Frances and Roy’s daughters provided them with additional blessings and many fond memories. Sandy married Larry Reed and and they had two children; Robert and Rebecca. Rebecca married John Zerwas, Jr. and had the newest great-grandchild, McCall, in July of 2020. Frances loved their FaceTime calls since COVID prevented visits in person. Pam married Alton B. (Bubba) Laws III and they had three daughters. Kimberly married Ryan Pendergraft. Karen married Jason Layhew and they have three amazing children, Deuce, Boogie and Kayce , (who was born on her MiMi’s birthday in 2006). Their youngest daughter Kellie, married Rajan (Jon) Casino Patel and have a son, Jaxx (who Bubba calls his wingman/long story)
Hers was a good life, full of family, friendships, but foremost and most important, was her relationship with the Lord.
