Mary Bass Mitchell

Mary Bass Mitchell, age 96, of Georgetown, Texas, died Thursday, March 8, 2007. She was a member of United Methodist Church of Jackson, MS. Mary was born in Gallman, MS on November 15, 1910, to the late William and Corrine (Bass) Atwood. She later married John Irby Mitchell who preceded her in death in 1989. Mary is survived by her sons, John Irby (Shery) Mitchell, Jr. of Georgetown, TX; Bobby (Edith) Stacy of Morton, MS; grandchildren, John Irby Mitchell, III, James H. Mitchell, Robert Stacy, and Cynthia Arnold, and 9 Great Grandchildren. She also leaves behind one sister, Dell (Oscar) Taylor of Lewisville, TX and one brother, James Atwood of Jackson, MS. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John, and daughter, Betty Jo Mitchell. Graveside services will be 3:00PM at Charleston Cemetery in Charleston, MS on Sunday, March 11, 2007, with Reverend Steve DeVore officiating.
