Mary Jane Schneider

Mary Jane Schneider, 66 of Georgetown, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2012, after a courageous battle with illness over the last few years. A memorial service will be held on Saturday 21, 2012 at 2:00PM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH 35, Georgetown, Texas 78628. Mary Jane was born July 21, 1945 in Tomball, Texas to the late Jack W. and Lois Thompssen Allen. Mary Jane’s family moved to Houston when she was a child, she graduated from Waltrip High School. Mary Jane went to work for Farm Credit Bank of Texas at the age of 17 years old. Starting out as a secretary, she was promoted several times in her career; she worked as a chief accountant and payroll executive. Mary Jane achieved her Accounting degree from Houston Community College. Mary Jane met the love of her life Duke Schneider at a party in Houston; they had a whirl wind romance and were married three weeks later on September 17, 1964. In 1982, Duke and Mary Jane moved to Austin and later in 1985 settled in the Georgetown area. Mary Jane went on to Austin Community College and received her CPP certificate. Mary Jane retired twice through the years and was requested back to assist Farm Credit Bank of Texas, she worked for Capital Area Farm Credit as a contract payroll administrator until she retired completely in 2008. Mary Jane had a very artistic nature; she enjoyed oil painting, working with stained glass and embroidery. She also had a love for the Texas Bluebonnets. Mary Jane was a private person but had a passion for taking care of her family and her friends, she will be truly missed. Mary Jane leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of 47 years, Duke Schneider; her son, Kevin Schneider; her sister, Carol Stoddard; her brothers-in-law, Ronald Schneider and his wife Sandy and David Schneider and his wife Frances; along with several other loving family members and friends. Memorial donations in Mary Jane’s name may be made to The Madella Hilliard Community Center (Meals on Wheels)or Stonehaven Senior Center.
