

DeeDee (Mildred Inez Smith) Sewell, age 81, passed from this life into the arms of God on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. She was born on October 25, 1943 to Howard and Frances (Warren) Smith. She worked for Alvin Community Hospital for many years, starting out in data processing and working her way up to Chief Financial Officer. Eventually, she started her own physician billing business.
DeeDee was also actively involved as a 4-H leader and was a director for the Galveston County Fair & Rodeo during her lifetime. In addition, she was a member of Arcadia First Baptist Church, where she served as the leader for the youth group (Girls in Action) and spent many summers taking kids to the Texas Baptist Encampment in Palacios, Texas. She had a passion for helping kids and is fondly remembered as a fun-loving mentor. DeeDee was deeply devoted to family and gave loving care to both immediate and extended family members during their time of need. She loved spending time with her kids and grandkids, especially at the lake or the beach where she enjoyed boating, swimming, and fishing.
She is survived by a son, Josh and wife Heather Sewell of Georgetown, Texas; a daughter, Julie and her husband Kevin Meier of Bandera, Texas, and her brother RD Smith. She has five grandchildren, Lauren and Garrett Meier; and Hailey, Ava, and Jacob Sewell. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jimmy Smith, and her former husband of 25 years and friend Sonny Sewell.
Visitation will be at 10 am with the funeral service to follow at 10:45 am on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78626. She will be laid to rest at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, 1117 E. 7th Street, Georgetown, Texas following the service. A reception will take place after the burial at Cook Walden Davis Funeral Home until 2 pm.
