John Glover Warden, 59, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 28, 2014. John's family will gather for visitation and a time of support on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH 35, Georgetown. A service celebrating John's life and his unyielding faith in God will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Crest View Baptist Church, 2300 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78628. Interment will follow at Berry's Creek Cemetery. John was born May 14, 1955 in Burnet, Texas to the late Douglas Amon and Mary Nell Glover Warden. He spent his childhood years in Austin, TX, and graduated from Lanier High School. He and his family were active at Ridge Top Baptist and later Crestview Baptist Church in Austin. He attended Baylor University where he met the love of his life, Paula Knight. The two were married in Waco, TX on May 29, 1976. Upon graduation, he joined his family's wholesale heating and air conditioning business, DA Warden Company, in Austin. He subsequently started a branch office in Georgetown. In 1994 John was called into the ministry and started Grace Baptist Church of Salado with 18 members. He served as pastor of Grace for 14 years where he saw God's tremendous work in growing the church. This was a special time in his life, and he loved his congregation deeply. Feeling the call to plant a church in his hometown of Jarrell, John started New Hope Baptist Church (lovingly known in the community as "The Barn Church") where he served for the past 6 years. John touched many lives throughout Williamson and Bell Counties with his ministry, which included volunteer chaplaincy at St. David's Georgetown Hospital. John enjoyed working with his hands, which was evident in his participation in the building of two churches and maintaining the church property. He had a heart full of care and concern for the hurting. Most of all, he had a passion to share his love for his Lord and Savior to anyone who would listen (and lovingly prayed for those who wouldn't). John's faithful walk with God and his joyful spirit will be truly missed, but he would say to all "You can see me again someday!" John is preceded in death by his parents Douglas and Mary Warden and his mother-in-law, Jean Knight. John leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 38 years, Paula Knight Warden; his children, Douglas Wade Warden and his wife Julie of San Antonio, Melanie Warden Pell and her husband Andy of Dallas and Marissa Warden Priddy and her husband Jared of Euless; his sister, Annette Hill and husband Robert of Jarrell; his grandchildren, Asher Warden, Jude Warden, Ethan Pell, and Macy Pell; his father-in-law, Wade Knight and his wife Jo; along with a host of other loving family and friends. In lieu of flowers the Warden family requests memorial donations to be made to New Hope Baptist Church, P. O. Box 377, Jarrell, Texas 76537. Personal words of comfort and memories may be shared with the family at our online guestbook at www.gabrielsfuneral.com
