

Steve was born on October 25, 1929 in Buttonwood, Pennsylvania, one of eight children born to Vacenty and Sophie Mazur. He graduated from Hanover High School, where he excelled in baseball and football. He also enjoyed being a caddy at the local country club. He received a college football scholarship, but was drafted before he could use it.
Steve joined the Air Force and received his basic training at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He served in Korea and later was stationed in Morocco, London, Cleveland, Ohio, Abilene, Texas, and Mountain Home, Idaho. While in Abilene, he met and married Eleanor Jane Burger, who preceded him in death in 1999. Steve retired from the Air Force after serving for 22 years and moved to Austin, Texas. He then started a second career with the I.R.S. In 1997 he retired to Sun City, Texas.
He was a regular at the fitness center, enjoyed playing golf and bowling, especially when he had a perfect game. In 2001 he married his next door neighbor, Joan Barcinski. Together they enjoyed a happy life, which included dancing, cheering for the Spurs and spending time with family.
Stephen was loved and will be missed by his wife, Joan; son, Steve and wife Deli of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Stephanie McGraw and her husband Doug of Austin, Texas; grandson, Colin McGraw of Austin, Texas; step-son, Derek Barcinski and wife Maureen of Austin, Texas; step-daughter, Amy Linthicum and husband Gene of San Angelo, Texas; and step-grandchildren, Meghan and Nicholas Barcinski and Lane, Kelly and Anna Linthicum.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Georgetown, Texas.
