Wanda was born October 27, 1921, to Mabel Horton Ogden and Ray Walter Ogden in Georgetown, Texas. She grew up in Dallas, graduated from Sunset High School and married H. L. Gantz. During WWII Wanda was at North American Aviation, Grand Prairie, building B-24’s as H.L. flew B-24’s in Europe. She was a semi-pro baseball player in the early 1940's and made the Dallas All City Baseball Team several years running. Often the Sunday Dallas Morning News ran pictures of Wanda focusing on her dual beauty queen and baseball player status. Wanda later lived in Omaha, Lubbock, Austin, Wimberley, Georgetown.
Her children are Henry Lee Gantz, III (Sonya) with Christina, Jennifer, Melissa and Austin of Georgetown, and Cathia Gantz Goebel (Tom) of Austin. Her son Gary Gantz died in 2006.
Wanda divorced in the 1960's and real estate sales/investing became her passion. She married Moe Terrell whom she met when she lived in Lubbock. They moved to Austin in the mid-1960's and shortly thereafter created their real estate company. She later was President of Texas Women’s Council of Realtors and also held various positions in TAR, and the Austin and Williamson County Boards of Realtors. She was Austin Realtor of the Year 1980, Austin Salesman of the year 1971 and awarded for Outstanding Service by National Assoc. of Realtors. She served on Austin’s Urban Renewal Board, Redevelopment Board & Citizens League, only a partial list of her service and awards. Moe was President of Austin Board of Realtors among his many offices in their profession. Wanda was also very active in the Travis County, Hays County and Williamson County Republican Party activities. She enjoyed attending the Republican Party of Texas State Conventions. The Terrells were generous in supporting their beliefs through donations. Also, they personally financially helped people they met through their business to become homeowners. They retired at age 65 and began golfing at Woodcreek in Wimberley. Wanda again excelled in a sport and won two state tournaments. They later moved to Georgetown and golfed at Georgetown Country Club. Moe died Dec. 23, 2010.
Wanda was a loving, supportive mother and wife, a true patriot, accomplished businesswoman, a sportswoman, avid sports fan, and devoted friend. She always accepted a challenge and never compromised her principles. Her attitude was that anything could be accomplished. She was a valuable ally you wanted on your side. Her children expected she could do anything as they saw her coach her son’s Pony League baseball team to sewing beautiful clothes for Cathia.
