

William “Bill” Catlett, age 75 of Austin, TX passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at The Christopher House in Austin. He was born in Seminole, Texas to the late John & Sybel Catlett.
Bill grew up in Abilene Texas and played football at Abilene High School. He received a football scholarship to the University of Texas and was on the 1969 & 1970 National Champion teams.
Bill’s many accomplishments include a Master’s degree in Architectural Engineering from the University of Texas as well as a Law degree from Vanderbilt University.
His interests and passions were many, to include, tennis, wind surfing, training at the gym, golf, photography, traveling, reading, decorating, mixing cocktails, cooking desserts, and barbequing.
His career was as varied as his interests. Bill worked in the oil & gas industry in Abilene Texas, as an attorney in Dallas and most recently The University of Texas at Austin in technology transfer.
Bill is survived by his wife Jackie Catlett of 35 years; son, Sean and wife Shannon; son, Blake and wife Lindsay, and grandchildren Calder, Peyton, Pierce, Keller and Carson.
Bill was predeceased by his father, John, his mother, Sybel, and his brother Keith.
A celebration of his Life will be held at The County Line on the Lake, Austin, TX
June 18th, 2025, 11:15am – 3:00pm. Plenty of food and memories to share. Dress is casual and Hats/Caps and Hawaiian shirts are encouraged.
