Floyd was born in Scottsbluff to David (Anna Fegler) Krause. He grew up as the youngest of seven siblings. He graduated from Scottsbluff Senior High School and then joined the Army. His service allowed him to travel overseas, including service in Germany.
After his discharge from the military, he relocated to Oakland, California attending computer programing school. There he met the love of his life, Beverly King. They married on June 11th, 1966, and started a family (a daughter and a son) in the Bay Area, while working as a dispatcher for the AC Transit bus company.
In 1970, Floyd was given an opportunity to move the family back to Nebraska. At that time, they returned to Nebraska and purchased the Dash Inn, which they owned and operated until 1985. When he finally closed the drive in, he sold the bottled drink flavors for a time and then sold cars for Cannon Brothers and Dalton.
After the kids had gone off to college, Floyd and Bev moved to Arizona where he drove a truck for Horizon. Eventually retiring, so they could spend time traveling. One of their adventures was a cross-country RV trip where they got to see several sites throughout the United States. Took numerous cruises to see the Panama Canal, Alaska, and an anniversary trip to Hawaii.
After losing his wife of 50 years, Floyd returned to Nebraska, eventually living with his daughter’s family. He enjoyed watching football, softball, playing cards and spending time with the great grandchildren. (Especially slipping the snacks-M&M’s).
He survived by his daughter- Tami (Rusty) Pierce of Gering, Nebraska, Son- David (Michelle) Krause of Hartsel, Colorado. Grandchildren- Aaron (Kaylee) Pierce of Gering, Nebraska, Robyn (Jeff) Gehrt of Gering, Nebraska, and James (Rickie) Pierce of Scottsbluff, Nebraska and numerous great grandchildren.
He was preceded in passing by his spouse Beverly, parents, four sisters and two brothers.
At his request, there will be no funeral services, but a Celebration of Life may be held at a later date. Fond memories and condolences may be left at www.geringchapel.com for the Krause family.
