On April 12th, in her 100th year, with family by her side, we sadly announce the peaceful passing of Bella (Udovin) Shore. She was predeceased by her husband Archie of 63 years. She is survived by her 4 daughters Marni Mednick (Sol), Lani Cohen (Lorne - Deceased), Sybil Fineberg (Victor) and Susan Abramovitch (Sheldon - deceased), 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Born on July 15, 1922 in New Waterford, she was the youngest and last surviving member of the Udovin family. Shortly after obtaining her nursing degree in Ottawa, she met and married her husband, Archie Shore. She was an active member of the Jewish community and volunteered for many years. Bella was a good listener and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to golf, read, bake and was always looking for new recipes. Her home was never without a cookie or cake for visitors. She always had a smile on her face while persevering through her physical ailments. She was sharp through her 90s - able to tell you every grandchilds’ and great grandchilds’ birthday without blinking an eye. Her strength of will and strong mind are her legacy to all who knew her.
The family wishes to thank and is forever grateful to her dedicated and compassionate caregivers Wanda Lovell, Mae Lovell, Justin Lovell and Wayne Beaton, her niece and nephews and her close friend Gertie Doran over the past several years. She was never alone.
A graveside service will take place at the Glace Bay Jewish Cemetery on Thursday, April 14, 2022 @ 1:00 pm. For those unable to attend the service will be livestreamed through Patten Funeral Home's Facebook page. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting www.pattenfuneral.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the CNIB ://cnib.ca or Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County, PO Box 561, Sydney, Nova Scotia B1P 6H4 https://hospicecapebreton.org or charity of choice.
