Bernadette Arsenault

After a long and courageous battle with cancer, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Bernadette on Wednesday, October 26,2011 at the Glace Bay General Hospital with her loving family at her side.

Born in Glace Bay, Bernadette was the only daughter of Howard and Elizabeth MacKenzie.

She is survived by her daughter, Lori, Victoria Haven, sons, Roger (Lynette), J.B. (Amanda) of Glace Bay and one brother, Howard, of Harbourstone, Sydney. Also surviving are her eight grandchildren, whom she loved dearly; Jocelyn,Desiree, William, Riley, Nicole, Makaila, Adalyn and Kailyn.

Bernadette was a stay at home mom, looking after her daughter Lori (39) until her hard fought battle with cancer forced her to place Lori in Victoria Haven.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Billy in 2009.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Cadegan, Dr. D’Intino, Dr. Hafidh and the third floor staff at Glace Bay Hospital as well as the staff of the palliative care unit and cancer clinic in Sydney.

Visitation will be held at Patten Funeral Home, Union Street, Sunday, October, 30,2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 am in St. Leo’s Catholic Church with Fr. Boone officiating. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery.
