It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Berry Warner at the Glace Bay General Hospital on Tuesday, January 3,2012.
Born in Sydney, Berry was the son of the late Martin and Louise (Weatherby) Warner. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. A lifetime educator, Berry taught for 35 years with the Cape Breton Victoria Regional School Board. Most of his teaching was at Bridgeport School where he served as Vice Principal. Berry enjoyed music, sports, doing crosswords and spending time at the summer bungalow in Mira Gut.
Berry will be sadly missed by his devoted wife, Enid (Gillard), daughters; Brenda (Leon) Talbot, Norma (John) Kuta, Margie (Ernie) Slade and his precious grandchildren, Abbey and Jacob Slade. He is also survived by his sister, June Warner, nephew, Brad (Diane) and their children, Barbara and Janet and by his dear cousin, Mary Lou Chiasson.
Besides his parents, Berry was predeceased by a sister, Carolyn, in infancy.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be on Friday, January 6,2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union Street, Glace Bay. Funeral service will follow on Saturday, January 7,2012 , 2:00 pm at Newsom United Church with Rev. Michael Goodfellow officiating. Interment to take place at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Grand Lake Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lung Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of choice.
