We the family announce with sorrow the sudden passing of our beloved father Donald Frederick Brushett on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Palliative Care. Born on September 26, 1935, he was the son of the late Charles and Florence Brushett.
He worked for several years in the #20 Colliery as a motor man and then as co-owner of Bay TV Rentals until his retirement. He was an avid fisherman. He especially cherished his years of camping in the Lake Ainslie area. He enjoyed playing 45's, crib and solitaire. Later in life he fulfilled his dream to fly on an airplane to Alberta and British Columbia where he had a memorable time fishing, sightseeing and spending time with family.
Donald will be dearly missed by his children Don (Shelley) of Bedford, Ron (Joyce) of Red Deer and Marlene of Glace Bay, grandchildren Kristina (Michael), Danny (Vanessa), Ashley, Bryce and Jay, great grandchildren Alex, Kiera, Hannah, Nicholas, Ashton, Bridget, Dre, special daughters of the heart Donna, Karen, Lynda, Irene, Betty's son Joey, as well as their children and grandchildren and former daughter-in-law Karen.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Alex (Liz), George (Pat), sisters Irene (Alex), Lillian (Saunders), Dorothy (Sam) and the mother of his children Marguerite, loving and devoted partner Betty MacNeil.
A visitation will take place on Friday, Jan. 6th from 12 noon until 1:00pm at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Glace Bay with Rev. Dorothy Miller officiating. Interment to follow in St. Mary's Anglican Church Cemetery, Maple Ave., Glace Bay. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed through Collieries Parish Group Facebook page.
