It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Estelle Lorraine (Snow) Howie on Sunday Feb.8,2015 at the Glace Bay General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Donkin she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Christina (Wood) Snow and the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Estelle was a member of The Queen Victoria Rebekah Lodge #63 Donkin for 43 years, she held positions of past Noble Grand and Outside Guardian and was also a member of St. Luke’s United Church.
Estelle was know for her wonderful sense of humor and her kind, loving heart. “Nana Bell” as she was affectionately known by family and friends, has left us all with a lifetime of treasured memories to forever hold her close. Nana Bell also enjoyed gardening, knitting, crossword puzzles and playing cards.
Surviving are children Edith, Dwane(Marlene), Bruce (Peggy) of Donkin and Lorraine (Eric) Dominion, grandchildren Cherie (Robin), Jeffery (Alison), Tara (Frank),Daniel (Glenda), April (Troy), Sean, Lisa (Jon-Adam), Christina (Jordan), great grandchildren Tye, Hudson, Caleb, Declan, Ellie and Reid,sister-in-law and best friend Phyllis Snow, Goddaughter Linda Jewels and many nieces and nephews.
Besides parents she was predeceased by husband Elroy, son-in-law Harvey MacDonald and siblings Tom, Will, Albert, Jim, Herbie, Robert, Adam, Jean, Tean, Midge and Edward and Angus in infancy.
Visitation for the late Mrs. Howie will take place on Wednesday Feb. 11, 2015 from2-4 and 7-9pm in Patten Funeral Home 71 Union St, Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held on Thursday Feb. 12 at 2pm in St. Luke’s United Church, Donkin, with Rev. Bob Bigger officiating.
