

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the loss of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Gladys King passed away on October 1, 2021 at Taigh Na Mara in Glace Bay. Born on April 26, 1930 in Toronto to Frank and Bertha Newton, she was the youngest of five siblings.
Gladys is survived and will be missed by her daughter Lynn, son Michael (Darlene), grandchildren Bruce (Dawn), Jason (Victoria), Carlynne (Chris), Krystal (Shane) and Michael, 4 great grandchildren Keira, Brodie, Lexie and Castiel as well as her sister-in-law and very close friend, who was always there for her, Laura Hayes and nephews Earl King (Ruthie) and Brian Newton.
Besides her parents, Gladys was also predeceased by her husband Edward King
Gladys spent most of her working life as a bookkeeper with Hopkins Ltd in Port Morien. Upon her retirement she devoted herself to her other passion baking and cooking. She was affectionately known as the ‘Recipe Queen’.
