It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Harold Burton Wadden on Tuesday August 20, 2013, at the Taigh -na- Mara at the age of 89 with family at his side. Born in Glace Bay he was the son of the late Robert And Mary (Stewart ) Wadden. He was employed with Imperial Oil as a truck driver also worked at Sydney airport fueling airplanes. Harold was a paratrooper in WW2. Harold loved the outdoors. He was passionate about music. Harold was a volunteer fire fighter in Reserve Mines and Albert Bridge. Harold received his 25 year exemplary service medal from the fire dept. Harold was as a jack of all trades. He was a member of St Mary’s Anglican Church ,Surviving are his daughters Donna (Richie) MacNeil; Alberta, Edith Ann ; Mira, sons Frank(Debbie ) ;Glace Bay, Rob; Reserve, Tom (Paula );Antigonish, Gary (Carol Ann ); Mira, Donnie; Sydney , sister Catherine (Scott);Glace Bay, Florence (Jerry ) Rhoads; California, Emeline Strong; Glace Bay , Brother Murray (Mona ) Glace Bay). Also surviving are grandchildren Arron, Troy, Steven, Pamela, Lisa, Heather, Gillian, Thomas, Stephane, and Nicole. Great grandchildren Nathan, Riley, Merek, Darian, Jordan, Kayla, Ashton, Avayah.

Visitation for Harold Burton Wadden will be held on Thursday August 22, from 2-4 & 7-9 at Patten funeral Home 71 Union Street Glace Bay . Funeral Service will be held at St Mary’s Anglican Church Glace Bay on Friday August 23, at 2pm with Rev Myrna MacMullin officiating. Burial in St Mary’s Cemetery at later date. Family flowers only by request .Donation made be made to St Mary’s Church Anglican Church Glace Bay; Albert Bridge volunteer fire dept; or charity of one’s choice.

Special thank you from the family to the Taigh na Mara veteran Unit ,also to the V.O.N and the palliative care and to the nursing staff and doctors for the care they provided to Harold .
