

It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Herbert Leonard Davies who passed away January 20, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with loving family at his side. He was the son of the late Herbert and Alice Davies of Glace Bay, N.S.
Herb served 30 years in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. He started his career in Montreal, QC, before moving to Newfoundland – stationed at Corner Brook, Bonne Bay, Nain, Stephenville and Burgeo until moving to Nova Scotia - serving in Arichat, Sydney, St. Peters and Antigonish before retiring as Detachment Commander in charge of Sydney Detachment.
He is survived by his wife Ann (Allen); son Todd (Lisa) Miramichi, NB; daughter Joanne; cherished granddaughters Danielle & Alicia Davies and Nicole Scott; grandson and Best Buddy Michael Scott; sister Joan Sandy of Calgary AB; brothers-in-law Bud (Gertie) Allen, Floyd (Valda) Allen, Eric (Joyce) Allen and sisters-in-law Pat Allen, Lorena (Don) Monette, Eva Allen and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, sisters, Laura (Herman Shauger), Mary (Ed Sheppard), Clara (Eric Butts), father-in-law Robert Allen, mother-in-law Mary (Parsons) Allen; sister-in-law Neta Allen; brothers-in-law George Sandy and Fraser Allen.
A Memorial service will take place Thursday, January 25 at 11am at the United Protestant Church in Sydney River, N.S. Arrangements under the direction of Patten Funeral Home, Glace Bay, N.S. with Rev. Dana Feltmate officiating with assistance from retired Diaconal Minister, Joan Sandy.
