John Allan MacGregor

September 25,2011 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Vaughn and Josephine (MacDonald ) MacGregor.

John served with the Canadian military in Petawawa for 3 years and lived in Hamilton, Ontario for 16 years before moving home to Cape Breton where he worked for many years with the Cape Breton Development Corp. (Devco). He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 3, Glace Bay and the Masonic Lodge, #36 Thistle Lodge .

He is survived by his loving wife Joan (Wadden), son, Jason John (Kristine), Calgary,AB, sister, Lee (John) Campana, Natick, Mass., brother, Gary (Rita), Halifax and grandchildren, Ryan, Alberta and Kyle, Greenwood, N.S. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his son, Allan, and brother, Ira.

Visitation for John will be held at Patten Funeral Home on Thursday, September 29,2011 from 12-2 pm with funeral service to follow in Patten Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Anglican Church Cemetery. Family flowers only. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.
