

Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Roderick Henry and Doldena (MacLeod) MacKenzie. He was employed at Sydney Steel, served in the Canadian Army Signals Corp overseas in World War II and the Korean War, and continued as an active member of the Signals Corp Association.
Recently he recieved his 50 year commemorative pin from the Royal Canadian Legion where he performed as Service Officer and was a Past President. He devoted many years of his life to assisting people in the AA community. He was an avid tarabish player and always enjoyed a friendly game at the Pensioners' Club in Sydney.
He is survived by his daughter Ethel, Halifax; sons Sandy, Port Hawkesbury, Fred (Joyce) Halifax, Fultz (Joanne) Baddeck; grandchildren Marisa, Shelley, Jennifer, Alison, Tanya, Alex, and Jack; and; great-grandchildren Victoria, Isaac, Benjamin, Daniel, Rebecca, and Megan.
He was predeceased by his parents; wife Beulah (Bagnell); sister Phyllis; brother Neil; son Ken; and daughter Elizabeth.
Cremation has taken place. Amemorial service will be held at Patten's Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay on Thursday, July 14, at 2pm with Rev Shirley Murdock officiating. Interment will occur in the Malagawatch Cemetery at a later date.
