

On January 9,2011 Heaven rejoiced as a bell rang out to announce that another angel received her wings. Sheila was called by her Maker and Lord, surrounded by her loving family and friends in her family home after a courageous, year long battle with cancer.
Shelia was a member of Newsome United Church. She attended Glace Bay High School and graduated from the Community Residential Care Worker Diploma Program. She worked with Resicare in Sydney. While living in Ontario, she worked with the Golden Years Nursing & Assisted Living Center.
Born in Glace Bay and living in Cambridge for nine years, she was the daughter of Clarie and Sarah (Anderson) Pierce. She is also survived by daughter, Danielle, Ontario, sister, Sheri Gillis (Craig), Glace Bay, brother Clarence ‘C.J.’ Pierce (Alana), Fort Francis, Ontario and by her grandmother, Bessie Anderson and family and by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and several close friends.. Sheila will be sadly missed by her faithful walking companion, Chevez, and her 2 cats.
Sheila was predeceased by her grandfather, Clifford Anderson, grandmother, Rita Pierce, grandfather, Archie Pierce and aunt, Shirly Pierce.
Visitation for Sheila Pierce will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 from 1:00 -3:00 pm at Patten Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow at 3:00 pm in Patten Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Goodfellow officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Sydney Palliative Care Unit or to the Cancer Society.
