Also by many nieces & nephews especially Sam’s boys-Reg, Ronnie & Allister. Remembered fondly by Isabel & Jim Carpenter.
On his 100th birthday he was presented with a plaque from the U.M.W.A. thanking him for his 35 years of service in the mines (#1B & 26).
Da was possessed of a very curious mind and taught himself many things such as taxidermy, & photo development, wine making (beets ) which raised everyone’s hemoglobin levels. after retirement he took up woodworking. He took lessons in tole painting in his 80’s; and was the only male in the evening classes. He & Ann travelled a lot (across Canada & the U.S- Alaska , Hawaii & Europe) and he assembled scrapbooks of each trip. In his earlier years he enjoyed fishing & hunting & gardening . The trout were delicious and the deer were mounted & his flowers were beautiful. He did crossword puzzles in to his 90’s and was an avid reader all of his life.
