It is with great sorrow that we say goodbye to a wonderful husband, father, son and brother. Wayne Turner passed away quietly on July 23, 2021 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Glace Bay on Jan. 11, 1958, Wayne was the son of Mary Turner (O’Donnell) and the late Roy Wallace Turner. Wayne loved life and people. Coming from a family of 9 children, he often got into trouble without really trying. He had a keen intellect, loved to learn and charmed everyone he met. Never one to be idle, he held many positions during his lifetime, starting in a machine shop with his Uncle Lester. From there, he went on to be a projectionist at many theatres, including the Royal Theatre in Dominion. One of his favorite jobs was working at the Savoy Theatre during all their shows. After that, it was work out west and finally home to work at the Drive in and at Concentrix where he met many people who became lifelong friends. Wayne also liked to design and build things. It was his passion and more than a hobby.
Family was everything to Wayne. He adored his wife Brenda (Steele), who is truly his soul mate. His son Logan and his daughter Shelby are two of the best parts of him and are his pride and joy. Wayne is also survived by his mother Mary Turner, sisters Patty (Les), Helen and Susan (Andre), brothers Alvin (Theresa), Stan, Kevin (Madonna) and Lester (Helen) and several nieces and nephews. I could not have asked for a better husband and father and I can’t imagine life without him.
He was predeceased by his father Roy, sister Carol and in-laws Steve and Heather.
