Born on September 21st, 1935, in Kendrick, Oklahoma, Al was one of 14 children in a blended farming family. He led a life devoted to family, service, and community. Al was the epitome of hard work, quiet strength, dedication, and love.
Al is survived by his spouse of 55 years, Anne; his daughter, Karen (Tim) Moore; his children from his first marriage, Michael Treanor and Tim Treanor; 3 brothers, Donald Treanor, Pete Treanor, and Claude Treanor; grandchildren, Stephanie Tenly, Tiffany (Sara) Smith, Melanie (Derek) Coburn, Michael (Jessica) Treanor, Jr., Stephen (Carly) Treanor, Meaghan (Eric) Sebold, and Finn and Maggie Moore; great-grandchildren, Jazlene Fitz, Khloe` Fitz, Dexter Coburn, Caleb Coburn, Lily Treanor, Layla Treanor, Sean Treanor, and Eric Sebold; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Al was preceded in death by many of his siblings; his parents, (Bessie and John Treanor); and his daughter, Julie Treanor.
Al served in the United States Navy for a remarkable 20-year career. He retired as a Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman in 1972. He was the sole medical provider aboard ship while he was a Corpsman, and his evaluations show he was well respected and recognized for his strong medical acumen and professionalism.
His medical knowledge is what ignited the desire to become a nurse for his daughter, Karen, and his Navy career is what led Karen to join the Navy. He was able to travel the world while serving his country, and he was able to put together the most fantastic slide collection as memories.
He earned an associate degree during his later adult years and always strived to be a life-long learner. He went on to work in various jobs after his retirement from the Navy and ultimately landed as a contract paper carrier for his local newspaper, The Frederick News Post in Frederick, Maryland for almost 20 years. He also delivered Frederick magazine to his community before permanently retiring.
Al’s strong work ethic, gentle demeanor, and kindness fostered a fondness felt by all. His hobbies included golfing, home projects, and old western shows like Gunsmoke. He was quite the handyman and loved finishing the basement in their Pennsylvania home, while he was well into his 70’s, with his best friend from the Navy, Richard Schultz.
Al was a man of few words, but he was always listening and observing, and he was always quick with a little joke interjected here and there. Al’s dedication to his family, work, and community will live on for generations to come. He will be eternally loved and honored.
A celebration of life is planned for June 28th, 2025, from 2 – 5 PM at 13070 Red Oak Court, Platte City, MO 64079. Al will be interred at Leavenworth National Cemetery with military honors in a private family ceremony.
