

Anna Mae Besgrove Hodge passed away on June 12, 2016. A memorial service will be held at Avondale United Methodist Church (3101 NE Winn Rd, Kansas City, MO) on Thursday, June 16 at 10 AM. Visitation will be held following the service. Anna Mae was born in Fayette, Mo on June 6, 1922 to Mr. and Mrs. Orien A. Besgrove. She was a graduate of Fayette High School and Central Methodist College in Fayette. She married Dr. Robert H. Hodge and moved to Kansas City, Missouri. Anna Mae’s vocation was that of professional home maker and she was devoted to the establishment of home, family, and community. Her avocation was the promotion of projects concerning the Fine Arts, Archeology, and Historic Preservation. She was a member of Avondale Methodist Church in Kansas City, Missouri; PEO Chapter KF; DAR Arrow Rock Chapter; National Assistance League, Northland; Friends of Arrow Rock (Board Member and Trustee Emeritus); Ashby-Hodge Gallery of American Art, Central Methodist University, Fayette, Missouri (Executive Board Emeritus). She is predeceased by Dr. Robert H. Hodge (husband) and Nancy Shy (daughter). She is survived by her sons, Robert (Sandy) Hodge, Charlottesville, VA and Richard (Marti) Hodge, Kansas City, MO, granddaughter, Kelli (David) Hagen, Olathe, KS, grandson Kim (Amber) Wong and grandchildren Trenton and Alexis, Broken Arrow, OK; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rev. William J. and Margaret Ann Hodge, Houston TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ashby-Hodge Gallery (411 Central Methodist Square, Fayette, MO 65248) or Friends of Arrow Rock (P.O. Box 124, Arrow Rock, MO 65320).
