

Arven Johnson, 93, of Kansas City, MO, born July 5, 1922, to Jessie and Lucy (Mitchell) Johnson, in Ozark, AR, passed away peacefully June 6, 2016, at NorthCare Hospice House surrounded by his family. Arven grew up in Ozark, AR, he met Vivian Johnson, nee Jones, and they later married August 11, 1941 they were married 71 years. Arven was a WWII veteran having served with the United States Navy. He retired from Brown Strauss Steel Corporation, but continued to be an independent contractor. Arven was known in his community for someone who could be called on by family or friends needing his assistance in solving different problems, whether it was working on machinery or household matters. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time. Arven was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Johnson, nee Jones; parents, Jessie and Lucy Johnson; 3 brothers George, Roy and Troy; 2 sisters Clara Lewis and Cleo Milburn. Surviving are his 3 daughters, Betty (Chuck) Wilson of Dallas, TX, Glenda (Mike) Melvin of O’Fallon, IL and Shirley Chamberlin of Kansas City, MO; 7 grandchildren, Timothy (Becky) Mallen of Lee’s Summit, MO, Daphne (Jim) Shelton of Kansas City, MO, and Tracy (Brad) Wilson, Rainey Berry, Misty (Chad) Osborn, Wendi (Dean) Murry and David Anderson all of Dallas, TX; 3 step-grandchildren, Mark (Melissa) Melvin of Belleville, IL, Michael (Lucia) Melvin of Smithton, IL and Mallory Melvin of Belleville, IL; Arven was also blessed with 11 great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the Staff of NorthCare Hospice for all their loving care and concern for Arven and his family. Graveside Service 1:00pm Monday, White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
