Barbara Eastburn Moody, 80, of Gladstone, MO passed away in her home on February 18, 2017. Barbara was born August 26, 1936 in Kansas City, MO. The daughter of Urban and Orela Eastburn. She attended Brookwood and Eastwood Grade School and graduated from NKC High School in 1954. She also completed the beauty course at Templeman Beauty School in 1953 and worked at the NKC Beauty Shop as a beautician from 1953 to 1961. As a mother of Karen, Keenan and Roger she enjoyed 10 years at home caring for them. In 1973 she went to work at Sears in Antioch Center at its opening and retired after 26 years of customer service in 1999 to enjoy more time with family and her grandchildren. Barbara also did book work at home for Machine Supply Auto Parts owned by her and Jerry in NKC through 1984 and Excelsior Springs, MO from 1974 to 1992. Babara loved to play the piano. She was part of a gospel quartet, The Missionaires, which her father Urban lead for many years. She also played Sunday morning for the Friendship Class she and Jerry attended at North Cross UMC. Barbara was fortunate to be chairman of the North Cross UMC circle, the Wesleyan Interrelation group for many years where she met many of her dearest friends. She also loved to volunteer her time and talents in many ways including The Shepherd’s Center of the Northland. Barbara grew up spending time with her family singing gospel hymns and listening to her grandpa read from the bible. She grew up in the First Baptist Church in NKC and became a Methodist after marrying Jerry in 1956. They started attending North Cross in 1964 with smiles and welcome on everyone’s faces, they visited the friendship Sunday School Class and God has blessed them with many many dear friends from this church and class. Barbara has many songs that mean so much to her but the song “He Touched Me” expresses exactly how she has felt through her life. Barbara has taken care of her family for her whole time on earth and is now taking care of us in her passing as she had this obituary and funeral plans written out for us as a guide to follow. She still continues to give, share her thoughtfulness, kindness and love as she lives our hearts. She left us with 3 things to remember: Love God, Keep the Commandments and Meet me in Heaven and ask us all to: Please call each other often, Please Visit each other often, Please Help each other often and Please Pray for Each other often.
