Betty Adrienne Swift peacefully passed away Friday, January 30, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Red Oak, IA, April 14, 1933, Betty was the oldest of four children. She met her husband, Kenneth C. Swift, in Columbia, MO and they married on August 10, 1957. Together, they had three sons who were the loves of her life. Betty, a homemaker, was all about family and the best times of her life were when her “boys” were around her. She loved the holidays since those were times her family was gathered together, especially Christmas. She loved playing cards and arts and crafts with her artistic side exhibited in her decorations and paintings. Betty loved traveling throughout the US, including many summers visiting family in Colorado and Florida, with Ken, along with taking several cruises together. Betty is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ken Swift; her three sons, Doug Swift, Mark Swift (Christine) and Jeff Swift (Cheryl); three grandchildren, Blake, Brianna and Brian; one great grandchild, Alexia; sisters, Kathy Karleskint and Carol Smith; brother, Robert Almquist (Veda); and many other cousins, nephews, nieces and dear friends that she greatly cherished. We will all miss Betty’s generosity, smile, sense of humor and laugh, which was quick to arrive and contagious to others. She always thought of family and friends first before herself. Betty’s celebration of life will be held at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 2003 NE Englewood Road, Kansas City, MO, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 with the funeral immediately following. Burial will be at the White Chapel Memorial Gardens, 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, MO. Please submit memorial donations to The Holy Cross Organ Fund.
