Beverly was born January 26, 1935, in Richmond, Missouri to Cecil Davis and Kathryn Evans Davis. She attended Paseo High School and transferred her junior year to Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri, graduating in 1953. Beverly married her high school sweetheart, Gary Alton Patton, on October 16, 1953. In 1957, Bev and Gary moved to the Northland, and began their family, having four children: Gary Kevin, Christopher Brent, Cherlyn Ann and Melissa Diane, all of whom still reside in the Northland.
Beverly was a long-time member of Winnwood Baptist Church. She was very active, serving as a Sunday school teacher and on numerous committees, particularly enjoying WMU.
After her graduation from high school, Beverly worked for Citi Service Gas. After her children started school, Beverly then began to work in the areas of accounting and tax preparation. She worked numerous years for accountant, Wes Jennings, followed by a long career as a probate paralegal for the Kansas City law firm of Watson, Ess, Marshall & Enggas. Following her “retirement”, Beverly continued to work into her eighties preparing tax returns at Jackson-Hewitt.
Beverly and Gary loved to travel by car, taking their kids (and later their grandchildren) on yearly vacations across the country. They also loved watching their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren participate in activities including baseball, basketball, football, tennis, soccer, dance, and choir and they traveled across the country to watch them participate, rarely missing an event. They were thrilled to attend the Kentucky Derby to celebrate their 75th birthday, and in all their travels managed to travel through or to 48 states.
Beverly was extremely proud of her entire family and didn’t mind telling you about them.
Beverly was preceded in death by her mother and father, her older brother, Cecil LaVere Davis, and her younger brother, Thomas Evan Davis.
Beverly is survived by her husband of 72 years, Gary; her four children, Gary Kevin (Andrea), Christopher Brent (Deidre), Cherlyn Eberle (Gary), and Melissa Kuchta (John); ten grandchildren, Zane (Kate), Brock (Kelly); Aryn Peters (Joshua), Michael (Melissa), Jacob (Trey), Jonathan (Laura); Alexandra Rydman (Jeff), Danielle Eberle; Chloe Kuchta and Christian Kuchta; and thirteen great grandchildren; all of whom, much to Bev’s delight, still reside in the greater Kansas City area.
Beverly lived a long, full, healthy life, and touched the lives of many. She will be missed terribly but left us with a lifetime of fond memories.
