Chip Eckert, 70, of Gladstone, MO passed away April 4, 2016. Chip was born in Kansas City MO on November 18, 1945. He was the 3rd child of Velma and Howard Eckert. He grew up locally where he attended North Kansas City High School. Chip served in the army where he was in the airborne, played football and traveled extensively. He spent a lot of time overseas in Germany. He was a transmission repairman, in which he spent most of his career doing. He was partial owner of Raytown Transmission, when he retired in 2006. Chip had many hobbies throughout his life. He spent his younger years playing mushball & softball and then coached a women's team. He loved to hunt and shoot trap. He loved country music, westerns, and the history channel. He was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge and The Shriners International. BBQ became a passion where he lead Q-Chips BBQ. A family run competition team where his team competed locally and won numerous awards. Chip was married to his wife, Jan, for 33 years. He had 3 children and 8 grandchildren. He was a very proud and humble man. Preceded in Death: Parents: Howard & Velma Eckert. Stepmother: Emma Eckert. Siblings: Robert Eckert, Garnet Eckert, and Sue King Survivors: Wife: Jan Eckert. Children: Daughters; Michelle (John) Goodner, Melissa (Lynn) Butler, Son; Mike (Amanda) Eckert. Brother: John Eckert. Grandchildren: Erika, Megan, Madison, Makenna, Macie, Colton, Mylie, and Jordie. Numerous Nieces and Nephews. His beloved dogs: Cash and Dingus (Tango) Pallbearers: Beans Florez, Colby Biswell, Kyle Mason, Kevin Mason, Lynn Butler, and John Goodner. Honorary Pallbearer: Kyle Sanders Service 11:00am Saturday White Chapel Funeral Home Gladstone, MO. Interment White Chapel Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services.
