Dorothy McLaughlin

Dorothy Jean McLaughlin died Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Heritage Village of Gladstone in Kansas City, MO, at the age of 95. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM, Thursday, October 1, 2015 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1357 NE 42nd Terrace, Kansas City, MO, 64116. A visitation will be at 12:30-1:30 PM at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association. Dorothy was born April 15, 1920, the daughter of Sinton and Lottie Rockhold. She married David McLaughlin in 1940. To this union one daughter was born, Dava Jean Tipton. Dorothy attended Cherry Valley Grade School and graduated from Norborne High School. She attended modeling school and had directed shows and taught modeling for many years. For 6 years she was a security officer for the Job Corp. in Excelsior Springs, MO. She was the first woman security officer the Job Corp. hired. She belonged to the Utopian Women’s Club and Altar Society at St. Patrick’s Church. Survivors are her daughter, Jean Tipton (Mel); 2 grandsons, Jeff and Brian Tipton (Michelle); 4 great grandchildren, Joei, Jonathan, Shawn, and Rian Tipton; and many nieces and nephews.
