Eddie was born January 12, 1947, in Clinton, MO. He was the oldest son of Elbert L. and Marcella A. Schott. He graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1964. Eddie met his wife, Judy A. (Maddox) Schott at Linden Baptist Church as children. They were high school sweethearts, and he proposed to her at her senior prom. They were married August 26, 1967. During their 54 years of marriage they lived in Maryville, MO; Monmouth, New Jersey; and Washington D.C. before settling back down in Gladstone, MO. He served in the Army Aug 1969 - Feb 1972 serving in the Korean DMZ, and briefly at the Pentagon. Eddie spent his career working as a Lead Systems Analyst for Employer’s Reinsurance Corporation (ERC) from 1977 to 2004.
He had two “only children” spaced almost thirteen years apart. Eddie was fiercely proud of both of his children. He spent many hours helping them with school projects, attending music and sporting events, encouraging their success, and providing advice and help when needed. His grandchildren meant the world to him. B-Pa and Grandma would drive out to Colorado to celebrate their births and birthdays. After the Fogles moved back to Gladstone, he looked forward to Luke’s hockey events and family dinners, so he could spoil his grandkids.
He served for many years at Linden Baptist Church as a deacon, and caring for babies in the nursery with Judy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Marcella Schott; his wife, Judy Schott; infant children, Brian Edward and Steven Edward Schott; and infant granddaughter, Hazel Fogle.
Eddie is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Marie Schott; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Jared Fogle, all of Gladstone, MO; three grandchildren, Lucas, Samuel, and Kara Fogle; his brothers, Garry Schott of Gladstone, MO; and Daryl Schott of Tulsa, OK; and sister, Connie Schott of Gladstone, MO.
Services will be held on Tuesday, April 8 at Newcomers White Chapel in Gladstone, MO. Visitation at 1 PM, Celebration of Life service at 2 PM, with burial immediately following. All are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Linden Baptist Church.
