It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Edna Charlotte Morse, who left us peacefully in her home on March 7th, 2025 at the age of 95. Edna was born on October 15, 1929, in Wichita, Kansas to Rufus Garst and Carrie (Snider) Garst.
Edna was raised in Ludlow, Missouri and graduated from Ludlow High school in 1947 and married LaVerne Dale (L.D.) Morse, her high school sweetheart, in 1949. After marriage, they farmed in Missouri until 1952 when they moved to Wichita Falls, Texas as L.D. enlisted in the Air Force. They moved back to Missouri in 1956, where L.D. started his career as a Trans World Airlines airline mechanic and Edna as homemaker. In 1957, Edna and L.D. settled into their Gladstone home. Edna was a cherished homemaker, and cared for their home and the three boys. Edna was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1960 and remained devoted throughout her life.
Edna and L.D. loved to travel. With their boys, they enjoyed many camping trips. In retirement, Edna & L.D. purchased a 5th Wheel RV camper and literally traveled from coast to coast including four trips to Alaska. Sons, daughter in-laws, grandchildren, family relatives and long-time friends often joined them. In all they visited 48 of the 50 US states. They also travelled to London, Australia, Hawaii, Europe, and Canada on vacations.
Edna was always with her camera taking photographs of family, friends and travel destinations. One of her passions was scrapbooking. She completed over 100 scrapbooks starting with her marriage to LaVerne in 1949. Edna was an avid Chiefs fan and loved to host annual Superbowl parties. She loved to cook for family and friends and always brought a cherry or apple pie to the party.
Edna leaves behind a legacy of beautiful memories that will forever be cherished. The laughter shared over family gatherings, the wisdom imparted through timeless lessons, and the comforting presence that made every house feel like a home will remain in the hearts of those who knew Edna.
Edna is preceded in death by her husband, LaVerne Dale Morse and parents, Rufus M Garst and Carrie (Snider) Garst, sister Dorothy, infant Shirley Ann and brother Sherman Garst, half brothers Lloyd and Kenneth Garst, nephew Randy Garst and niece Charlotte (Garst) Remagen.
Edna is survived by her sons, Dale (Debora) of Milford, MI, Montgomery (Jane) of Bettendorf IA, Joseph (Lori) of Kansas City, MO, grandsons Andrew (Samie) and Daniel and great grandsons James and Caleb, niece Pam (Garst) Craft and many relatives in the Morse and Garst families.
